ABC| MONZA 2019 Open International Architectural Ideas Competition with BIM

BRIEF: The theme of the competition is the urban regeneration of an industrial site of 60,000 square meters in the city of Monza, Italy. The center element of the competition is the use of BIM (Building Information Material) with keeping the essence of environmental, economical and social sustainability. The design could be anything as long as it remains consistent with the spirit of the competition.

Theme: “Affordable housing”
Brief: Design a pilot-phase concept for affordable housing within Paris, which can be easily rolled out to increase the capacity of housing stock, and is minimal in its use of land and materials. No minimum size or amount of residential units per block is defined. The proposals should be flexible enough to adopt to different sizes for various inhabitant capacity requirements.

Theme: “House challenge: 2019 dessert house”
Brief: The competition seeks the creation of a temporary dwelling for a group of 4-6 people to live comfortably with ideas and concepts in architectural design with site planning. Your designed desert house has to feature the most basic components for people to live around 90 days. Provided the site is located in a desert and belongs to a community with similar houses, possible solutions about plumbing and electricity should be figured out.

BRIEF: IGBC has launched the Green Affordable Housing Rating with the premise to develop housing that is appropriate to the needs of a household and within their means to pay along with being environmentally conscious. The overarching objective of this rating would be to ensure ahigh degree of sustainability with no/meagre additional cost to the developer or the occupant.

Winners get an opportunity to participate in the Green Building Congress held from 25th – 28th September 2019 at Hyderabad.

Team Composition: Maximum of two members per team. Facilitation by and involvement of faculty members is desired. It would be extremely useful to the students if this could be incorporated into the curriculum of the students in the manner found suitable by the faculty.
